Good Faith Estimates
Under the "No Surprises Act," as of January 1, 2022 medical facilities are required to provide a "Good Faith Estimate" to patients not planning to use insurance. This Good Faith Estimate shows the costs of items and services that are reasonably expected for your health care needs for an item or service. Please let your provider know if you plan to seek services as a self-pay client, and this can be provided to you.

Most Frequently Asked Questions
-
Unfortunately, Sage & Shadows Counseling only offers online telehealth sessions for new and existing clients. Telehealth sessions are secure, confidential, and convenient for clients in Corpus Christi and across Texas.

New clients who want to use an insurance that I am out-of-network with will be responsible for covering the out-of-pocket rate for the therapy session. I am able to offer clients a Superbill, upon request, for possible out-of-network reimbursement. Many insurance plans offer full or partial reimbursement for out-of-network providers so I encourage clients to contact their insurer directly to understand their specific benefits.
-
Payment will be processed automatically within 24 hours using the card on file.
If you are using insurance, copays or coinsurance amounts will be collected via Headway after billing the service.
If a payment fails, I will attempt to contact you. If I am unable to reach you, your session will be canceled and rescheduled.
-
I have a 24 hour cancellation policy. If you cancel within 24 hours of your appointment or “no show”, you will be charged for the full session fee to your card on file.

Online therapy sessions provide the same compassionate, confidential space as in-person counseling, offering flexibility, safety, and connection from wherever you are in Texas. Whether you're in Corpus Christi, the Coastal Bend, or across Texas, therapy comes to you while you’re curled up in your living room.
Before each session, I’ll send a secure, HIPAA-compliant video link. All you need is a stable internet connection and a quiet, private space where you feel safe to speak openly. This is your time and you deserve to feel fully present in it. -
There’s no rush and no pressure in our first session. We’ll take time to settle in, walk through how therapy works, and begin shaping your goals. I’ll review your intake information, talk through session structure, and answer any questions you have.
We'll gently explore your present challenges, past experiences, and hopes for healing, then we can co-create a therapy plan that feels personalized and supportive. We move at your pace, always with care and intention. -
That question is for you! I empower my clients to lead the way in their treatment journey. I will follow your lead when it comes to frequency of sessions, duration of treatment, and individual goals. I will offer supportive guidance along the way.
Due to my relational style of therapy, it’s not uncommon for my clients to stay with me for a year or more, and many return in the future when something new arises. My goal is to offer what you need, when you need it, and that’s totally different for everyone.
-
I offer limited evening spots. Sage & Shadows Counseling is not open on the weekends.
-
Yes, I reserve a limited number of sliding scale spots for clients who may need financial flexibility. If this feels like something you’d like to explore, let’s talk about it during your free consultation. Your access to care matters, and I’ll do my best to support you in finding something sustainable.

Unfortunately, Sage & Shadows Counseling cannot provide emotional support animal letters due to the specialized training required.
