Or maybe you are—but the connection between you has shifted under the weight of time, stress, silence, and survival.
What used to feel easy now feels fragile. The warmth, the spark, the tenderness—you miss them. And more than anything, you miss the version of yourselves who could reach for each other without fear or resentment. Maybe you fight over the same things again and again. Maybe you don’t fight—but the distance between you feels even louder. You’ve begun keeping score. You’re not sure how much more you can carry alone. And in the quiet moments, you wonder: How did we get here? Can we find our way back? |
You feel emotionally tethered again.Conversations become bridges instead of battlegrounds. When you reach out, your partner reaches back—with presence, not defense.
Conflict doesn’t collapse your connection. You have tools to communicate without blaming, to listen without shutting down, to repair without walking on eggshells.
You feel like partners. Not just roommates, not just co-parents, not just survival teammates—but equal, seen, respected. You feel safe to ask for what you need.
Your relationship becomes a place of rest—not stress. You laugh more. Touch feels natural again. Intimacy returns—not just physical, but emotional, soulful, safe.

Do we have to be married to seek out couples counseling?
Not at all. I support couples at every stage—dating, engaged, long-term, or married. Whether you're exploring deeper emotional connection, clarity about the future, or more ease in your communication, you’re welcome here.
At Sage & Shadows Counseling in Corpus Christi, couples counseling is a space for any two people committed to growing together. If your relationship matters to you, it matters here. my partner doesn't want to come to therapy. what do i do?
It’s not uncommon for one partner to feel hesitant about therapy—this is a vulnerable step. For couples therapy to work well, both partners need to be open and engaged. But if your partner isn’t ready, that doesn’t mean you’re stuck.
Individual therapy can still support your relationship. It offers a space to explore your needs, strengthen your voice, and shift patterns—because when you begin to heal, the dynamic can shift, too. If you're in Corpus Christi or the Coastal Bend area and feeling unsure where to begin, we can start with you. will you see us individually?
This depends on what feels most supportive for you both.
Some couples prefer to begin with a joint session to explore shared goals and challenges. Others find it helpful to begin individually—unpacking their own story and perspective—before coming together in a third session with deeper understanding. At Sage & Shadows Counseling, I offer relationship therapy that meets you where you are. We’ll discuss your preferences and co-create a structure that feels right for your journey.
